Ten pairs contested this club GC doubles competition.
The day started fine but turned out to be a coat on/coat off, dash for shelter, sort of thing.
After four rounds, Julie Boulton and Jane Tewson had a clean sheet and were riding high with a +11 hoop difference.
Then the manager decided on a fifth round which affected the results dramatically!
In the end there were now two pairs on 4 wins, both with a +10 hoop difference: Paul Smith & Kate Ibbitson, and Steve Garratt and Stephanie White. No messing with who beat who, there was a 5-shot each shoot-out to decide matters. The ladies were very accurate, Kate scoring 3 [from the boundary to hoop 1, a distance of 7 yards] and Steph 2, the men being equal with zero, that is, nil each!
Congratulations to Paul and Kate and here’s hoping that you weren’t expecting Port despite what it says on the packaging.
Well done also to Julia Picken on her competition debut, partnering husband John, and finishing with 1 win (and a couple of close losses).
