Eight players contested this year’s Veterans (now 65+) trophy, initially in two groups of four. After the round robin, Colin Carr was the clear winner in Group A, with Janet Sherwood runner-up on hoop difference. In Group B John Picken, Ormond Hooper and Martin Wroughton all had two wins with the result determined by hoop difference and who beat who! The result being John in 1st place and Martin as the runner-up. After the winner of Group A played the runner-up from Group B and vice versa we arrived at the final being played between John and Martin. Martin’s form had been improving throughout the day and peaked for the semi-final and final. After winning his semi-final with a score of 7-0 he finished his day in the final, where with a series of fine distance hoop shots he won with a score of 7-3.
