Jenny’s Day including Crazy Croquet

Sun 28th July, Moira Report by Lesley

In glorious sunshine, 40 members met to remember our very popular club member Jenny Biggs, who had died at Christmas.  We were joined by Simon, Jenny’s son, who enjoyed the afternoon and met several people he had not seen for some time.

Everyone enjoyed both normal croquet and the crazy variety, the latter on a course set up by Penny and Rupert.  Paul was the winner with the least number of strokes (34), followed by Ormond and Rosie both on 36.

Lesley gave a short tribute to Jenny after which we drank a toast to her memory.  Everyone then enjoyed the afternoon tea of savouries and cakes kindly made by club members, Julie, Janet S, Jill, Gill, Helen, Avril, Alison, Rupert and Lesley.

There was a collection for the PDSA, a charity chosen by the family, as Jenny was a great animal-lover.  Thank you all for your generosity; £320 was collected and the charity will gain an extra £63 from Gift Aided donations.

Jenny would have enjoyed the afternoon, apart from the heat!
