Good performances from Mike O’Brian and John Picken resulted in an all-Ashby final in a GC A-Level tournament (handicaps 0+) that attracted a full field of 12 players.
Mike and John each won four out of five games in their respective blocks to ensure qualification for the semi-finals. Mike won his semi against Peter Tofield (Northampton) in two games, while John came from a game down to win 2-1 against Billy Cooke (Broadwas).
Mike beat John 7-1, 7-3 in the final, and qualifies for the GC A-Level series national final at Sidmouth in September.
