Sun 15th October, Moira
In one of the last competitive fixtures of the domestic croquet season, Ashby hosted this year’s final of the Secretary’s Shield competition. This is a national knockout AC handicap competition, contested by the clubs that won the previous year’s regional AC leagues. This year’s finalists were Sheffield and Phyllis Court (Henley-on-Thames).
Sheffield were leading 2-1 after the first three games, but Phyllis Court came back to win three of the four afternoon singles games to finish 4-3 victors and claim the trophy which Ashby won in 2010.
