A full field of twelve players contested our C-Level tournament on a nice sunny day. The C-Level is for GC handicaps 7 and above (as at the allocation date in mid-June). Players were divided into two blocks of 6.
Veronica Savill (Nottingham) won Block A with 4 wins, ahead of Ashby’s Pete Bensley (3 wins, hoop difference +8) and Lucy Closs (Downham , 3 wins, -3).
Paul Rockall (Gainsborough) won Block B with 4 wins, +13, followed by Grenville Perry (Hunstanton, 3 wins, +4), Pamela Dawson (Gainsborough, 3 wins, +1) and Mark Baverstock (Leicester, 3 wins, -5).
In the semi-finals, Grenville won 7-5 against Veronica, and Paul beat Pete 7-4.
Paul started well in the final, but a string of good hoops by Grenville earned him a 7-2 victory and the glass plate trophy.
