Ashby held its first One Day Open GC Event, six players, all-play-all, 19-point games. The club was hoping for a full entry of twelve players, but holidays and possibly the entry in the CA fixtures list not explicitly stating One Day left the club one player short of a viable number, so Mike played and Judith stepped in to manage.
That arrangement worked well, with all the players having an enjoyable day of very competitive croquet. Arthur Rowe (Ashby) won all five of his games, securing the tournament overall with what turned out to be a necessary win over Glynis Davies (Northampton) in the last round. Les Heard (Wrest Park) was runner-up with four wins.
