Fri 23rd Sept, Moira
After a one or two false starts and a postponement due to the Queen’s funeral, the 14-point AC match against Nottingham finally went ahead on Sept 23rd on a nice warm day.
Each player in the team of three played a singles game against each member of the opposing team, giving nine games overall. Despite the time limit being increased to 1 hr 45 min (instead of 1:30 last year) only four of the games were pegged out within the time, and there were some close games, five of them being decided by just +2 or +3. Ashby prevailed in the end, winning 7-2 including all of the games in the final round.
Teams:
Ashby: Mick Haytack (9), Richard Sanville (11), Heather Hardy (12)
Nottingham: Debbie Watson (9), Cathy Turski (16), Peggy Deller (18)
Results:
Round 1: Mick 6-8 Cathy; Richard 14-8 Peggy; Heather 6-1 Debbie
