Ten players from Ashby Croquet Club made up the entry for this tournament. Two blocks of five players were then randomly selected.
The players in each block then played an all-play-all morning session, to determine the ranking for each block. In block A the winner was Paul Durkin, with Ray Mounfield as runner-up. In block B the winner was Mike O’Brian, with Jane Tewson the runner-up.
The final ranking for the tournament was determined by the winner of each block playing each other, the runners up playing each other and so on, so that all players played the same number of games.
Paul won the tournament and was presented with the trophy by Eileen Buxton, who had been responsible for inaugurating the tournament in the first place. The runner-up was Mike, with Jane beating Ray to finish third.
