Ashby lost 0-5 to visitors Watford in the first round of the GC inter-club competition.
The individual matches were not quite as one-sided as the overall score suggests. Also, the remaining two singles matches were abandoned once the overall result had been decided; Jane and Paul were both one game up in these.
