Ashby’s C-Level and B-Level GC tournaments, held on consecutive days, were both won by visiting players from Northampton.
Seven players contested the C-Level on the Friday (managed by Mick). Martyn Palmer was the winner with 6 wins out of 6 in the all-play-all competition, and Stephanie White (Long Eaton) the runner-up with 5 wins. Veronica Savill from Nottingham and Lesley Leitch from Ashby were joint third with three wins and the same hoop difference. The standard of play was very high for a “C” level and everyone managed at least one win. Full results on CroquetScores
After a couple of late withdrawals, including one early on the day of the competition, the B-Level on the Saturday was reduced to just five players, so Martin had to re-jig the format so everyone now played two games against each of the other players. In the end it worked well, with all 10 rounds completed in just over 7 hours. Glynis Davies was the winner, with 6 wins and 1 draw from her 8 games, and everybody won at least two games.
