In its fourth outing the Derek Buxton trophy (18-point level-play internal AC tournament) found another deserving new winner in Heather Hardy, who continued her winning form from the previous weekend with 3/3 to claim the trophy with some solid play and good shooting. The standard of play overall was not outstanding, with only one game finishing within the 2 hour time limit. 4 out of the 6 games were very close affairs though, with two going to a golden hoop after time.
In the first round, Heather made a good break but conceded a contact to Adam, although he was unable to score enough hoop points to overhaul her lead. In the second round Adam was unfortunate to lose to Arthur after time by running penult in the wrong direction, and in the final round Arthur levelled the scores against Heather but left her with an easy lift shot which enabled her to win.
We also had a flypast by the Red Arrows on Armed Forces Day.
