We had what is believed to be a record New Year’s Day turnout of 20 people on the first day of 2020. Tim devised a format so that pairings were arranged by handicaps, and each pair played three games, with two pairs sitting out at any one time.
After the three rounds, Will and Judith were the only pair with three wins so they were declared the winners with no need for a final. Runners-up were Arthur and Keith on two wins and a +7 hoop difference; Rachel & Lesley and Mike & Richard also finished with two wins.
Everyone else won one game: Jane & Eileen, Chris J & Martin, Chris M & Derek, Tim & Julie, Paul & Jenny and Ray & Heather.
As usual it was a fun competition and a nice social occasion to start off the year. Will and Judith were presented with the Dave Davis trophy.
