Ashby was the host club of one of the All-England Handicap AC area finals over the weekend of September 1st and 2nd. Six players competed: two from Wrest Park, two from Nottingham, and two from Ashby including Richard Sanville who stood in at the very last minute for another player who failed to show up. Mick arranged an all-play all competition, using all three lawns to avoid double-banking, and ensuring everyone played at least one game on each lawn. In the end it was the two Wrest Park players David Woolley and Richard Keighley who both qualified for next weekend’s national final at their own home venue. They both coped well with the varying conditions over the three lawns, each winning 4 games out of 5. Many thanks to Mick for running the event and arranging perfect weather!
