Ashby narrowly lost the Murphy Shield GC semi-final 3-4 in an away match to Durham, although the fixture was in fact played at neighbouring club Middlesbrough. This was actually Ashby’s second 3-4 semi-final defeat at Middlesbrough in the space of just two weeks, having experienced similar disappointment in the AC Secretary’s Shield earlier in the month.
