WINTER WEDNESDAYS
Nineteen members joined in the Winter Wednesday competition. One point was awarded to each player for each hoop they scored in three games they played each Wednesday morning from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. The overall winner was Mick Haytack, with Eileen as the runner up.
WINTER SUNDAYS
Played to the same format as Wednesdays. Twenty-three players joined in over the winter. The winner was Eileen, with runners-up Jenny and Derek (see details below).
THE ANNUAL QUIZ
Twenty-two members and friends made up 6 teams for the quiz. Mick and Eileen devised the questions and fun rounds, and Derek did the scoring.
Richard, Jenny and Janet (Jenny’s friend) aka Romeo and Juliets were the winners with 81.5 points.
Celebration aka Lynda, George, Lesley and a friend were second with 76.25 points.
The Village Idiots aka Paul, Jane, Joan and Susan from Long Eaton were third with 75 points.
The Wooden Spoons were won by Memory Loss, I’ve “conveniently” forgotten their names! (Wendy & team)
Thanks to everyone who donated prizes and for attending.
The COUNTDOWN was not as well supported as previous years, with just five people taking part and Christine finishing as the winner.
The WINTER WALK was more popular despite the icy weather, although the overnight snow had largely thawed by the time of the walk. Ten people (plus two dogs) enjoyed a 3-mile stroll along the canal towpath to Donisthorpe, before returning along the old railway track and finishing at the YHA café for tea.
